Hong Kong, May 16, 2012 – Success of Linux、Apache、Firefox、Wordpress and other free/open source softwares (F/OSS) are contributed by developers and deliver their program with source codes which are licensed in one of open source licenses.
Open Source allows users and developers to use, modify and re-distribute programs with source codes freely. With media coverage on technology websites and international medias, population of open source community is increasing rapidly in last 20 years. With the growth of F/OSS user and developer population, it develops the mature power of F/OSS and a number of international F/OSS communities.
About GNOME and GNOME Foundation
GNOME is the most popular desktop UI on Linux desktop systems, which GTK library can be installed on Windows and OS X as well to run some GTK-based applications.
10+ years ago, GNOME Foundation is established by GNOME project, and formed their Asia committee in recent years. Every year, GNOME Asia committee organise annual GNOME.Asia Summit, which hosted in China, Vietnam, Taiwan, India. Agenda of GNOME.Asia 2012 is announced in May.
22+ topics are selected from 60+ proposals, and speakers from Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Spain, Taiwan, USA, Vietnam are invited, Most of them are GNOME / GTK / F/OSS contributers, developers, users, and promoters. They will visit to Hong Kong and present in different type of topics, and share their experiences and making friends with yours.
