Let’s Encrypt announces this month that ACMEv2 and wildcard certificate support is now supported.
ACMEv2 is an updated version of ACME protocol which has gone through the IETF standards process, ACME protocols handles certificate issuance and management. Wildcard certificates allows webmaster to secure all subdomains of a domain with a single certificate, it still recommend non-wildcard certificates for most use cases.
In order to use new Wildcard certificates, you need a client which is updated to support ACMEv2. It is recommended to start to using Let’s Encrypt with Certbot. Certbot software packages for some Linux distributions are available.
Let’s Encrypt is aimed to break down barriers for HTTPS adoption across the Web by making it even easier for every website to get and manage certificates.
